Our Monumental tour is the perfect tour to start your visit. Seville is a city with more than 2000 years of history, from its Roman foundation by Julius Caesar, through the Islamic, Jewish and Christian splendour of the Middle Ages, the Discovery of the New World, the Romantic period… and many more stories and legends that you can learn from a local guide with your private tour.
The tour will start in Plaza de San Francisco, one of the most popular squares of the city, where you will find the Town Hall of Seville, a Renaissance building built in the 16th century. We will then continue along the Avenida de la Constitución until we reach the Cathedrals Door of Forgiveness (Puerta del Perdón), a place where merchants and traders from the Indies used to meet.
Around the Cathedral we will have several stops to learn about the different construction stages of the temple. The remains of the old mosque are a classic example of Moorish architecture, as well as the famous minaret, today known as the Giralda and one of the great attractions of Seville.
Then, from the Plaza del triunfo, we will explore the history of the Real Alcázar, the oldest Royal palace in use in Europe and a jewel of the Spanish Mudejar style. Also from the same square we will visit the Archivo de Indias (old Casa Lonja), the commercial epicentre of the Indies after the discovery of America, a crucial event in the history of Seville. Both monuments, together with the Cathedral, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
We will continue our tour until we reach Puerta de Jerez, one of the old gateways of the city, with numerous buildings of touristic interest such as the Torre del Oro, the Hotel Alfonso XIII and the Old Royal Tobacco Factory, a place closely related to the famous opera Carmen.
Our last stop will be at one of the most iconic places in the city, Plaza de España. Main construction of the Ibero-American Exhibition held in 1929, historical landmark that undoubtedly transformed the city of Seville, offering one of the most beautiful and photographed pictures by visitors.
