Private tour

Description

The Museum of Fine Arts in Seville is the second most important art gallery in Spain, after the famous Prado Museum in Madrid. Our museum of paintings and sculptures is one of those places you have to visit if you want to add something unique to your trip to Seville.

On our private tour you will learn about the history of the city through painting, sculpture and architecture, as the museum is housed in a former religious convent, whose origins date back to the 13th century.

The museum of paintings was created in the 19th century after the period known as “the Desamortización” (the Depreciation), a period in which many religious temples were deconsecrated.

From the Middle Ages to the present day, the Sevillian artistic school stands out for its great quality and proliferation, with religious themes standing out in the 17th and 18th centuries and the costumbristo (customs) and romantic themes of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Part of our visit will focus on the Sevillian Baroque, a great period of artistic splendour and great social change. Artists such as Murillo, Zurbarán and Valdés Leal are essential to understand this era, where the church was the main patron of the arts.

We will also travel to the Romantic period of the 19th century to understand the typical Andalusian customs, so deeply rooted in Spanish folklore.

All this and much more with your private visit to the Museum of Fine Arts, undoubtedly a “must” of your trip to learn the history of Seville through its amazing art!
