The history of Italica is the history of Rome, this ancient Roman city is located just outside Seville in a small village called Santiponce about 10 km from the city and was the first Roman city in Hispania. Italica is undoubtedly one of the great jewels of antiquity that you cannot miss if you are passionate about the history of the Roman empire.
The city of Italica was founded in 206 BC, after the first great victory won by the Roman armies commanded by Publius Cornelius Scipio, nicknamed “The African” against the Carthaginian army in Hispania, in the Second Punic Wars.
This is also the birthplace of the emperors Trajan and Hadrian, figures that left a mark the history of the Roman Empire and the first rulers from outside the Italic peninsula to achieve power, undoubted proof of the political and economic importance that the city was reaching.
On our tour we will visit the Amphitheatre, a spectacular construction that had a capacity for up to 25,000 people. This is where one of the places most famous Roman entertainment spectacles, the gladiator fights, were held. We will also visit the city built by the emperor Hadrian, where mosaics and marble of the best quality are still preserved that will transport us travel back in time… all this and much more with your private tour!

Admission to the Archaeological Ensemble is free for residents of the European Union and €1.50 for all other visitors.
Visiting hours are from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
